It's been so long since I last wrote,
I thought I'd take the time
to send to you, my final note
enscribed with words of mine.
The candle light grows ever dim,
so my dear, I must be brief
I apologise if this sounds grim
and fills your soul with grief.
I must find the strength to bring you truth,
for this lie cannot go on,
as we carried it throughout our youth
and assumed it would be gone.
But here we are a thousand years
from where we dreamed we'd be
and I never planned to disappear
or run so far from thee...
Before I say farewell and leave you
in peace again once more,
just know that I will always love you
but for now...
